I'm Henry the Eighth I Am . . .

Well, actually I'm not, but today I saw The Other Boleyn Girl which I liked even though it clearly made great efforts to condense the book. However, as many people who know me already know, my favorite wife of Henry VIII is Anne of Cleves (pictured above).

Friend of the Week: Tim (Yup, though I'd prefer you to comment on my newer posts or at least say something relevant).

I actually recently learned about Henry VIII and his wives because I'd been reading historical fiction romance novels. I had a vague idea of who he was, but after reading the novels I spent a couple of hours learning about him and his wives on Wikipedia.

That was the motivation behind learning more about Catherine de Medici as well. And I got interested in the French and Russian revolutions due to Riyoko Ikeda's manga series.

Who says romance novels and manga can't bring good things? :-)

Btw, I'm pretty glad I'm not under the pressure that Henry VIII's wives had when they're trying to get themselves pregnant...

Yeah, the reason I like Anne of Cleves so much is actually mostly based on this old TV movie about her which was fictionalized.

And it is good that Tim's nothing like Henry. Good for him. Because he would have to deal with me and a shovel if he started treating you like Henry VIII treated his wives. :P
