Star Trek Review

To boldly go where no short skirt has gone before.

Haven't seen the big new movie yet (actually haven't seen ANY Star Trek movies though I like the shows) but to comment on women's outfits in Star Trek it depends on what woman you are and the era. (I think they went back to short skirts in this movie because it was based off the original series which had only short skirts.) So, if you're a lady serving on a space ship you can wear either:
a short skirted dress
a skin tight nearly see-through leotard
the men's/standard uniform (strong female characters or officers)
clothing that reflects your ancestry (Bjorians, etc. sp??)
But, yes, you can tell where the change began if you know the Star Trek shows well enough. For instance, Crusher in Next Generation always wore the standard uniform but the psychic/empath Diana always wore the skin tight leotard that nearly showed her nipples. I assume the distinction was between masculine and feminine characters (the empath being completely feminine and able to intuit alien emotions) but it also helped to give the male viewing audience some eye candy. Shows after Next Gen. tended to have all their Starfleet characters wearing the same uniform unless they had a specific alien background like 7 of 9 who was formerly Borg. That's probably more than you wanted to know though. :)

Thank you for your thoughts. I actually have watched episodes from all the Star Trek series so I know what you're talking about.

What I really want to know is who is this??? I have more than one friend whose name begins with D. Anonymous posts tend to bug me. If you don't want to reveal your name on the blog, please email me and tell me who you are.
