I paid off all my student loans the other day. Part of me would have preferred to have to work them off. I know it sounds crazy but it would have been an excellent motivator and I would have felt more like I earned it. I'd also prefer not to have the money for the reason I have it.
But it is good not to be in debt.

DAMN! Either you didn't have much in loans or you had a windfall of an inheritance. I'm jealous either way. (My inheritance wouldn't cover grad school, alas.) Good for you being debt-free this early!
A little of both. I only had loans from undergrad. and even though my undergrad was kinda pricey, I had a big scholarship and a bunch of grants that covered the majority of my education. My final total loans were less than one year's full tuition at Denison.
For grad school I had a full tuition scholarship. I might not have gone if not for that.
